Tagua is the seed from a South American Palm tree, gathered and dried naturally for 2 years after which it takes on a hard, ivory-like texture (hence its often called vegetable ivory). It can used in its chunky whole-seed form or sliced into delicate slices to make lightweight yet durable and stunningly beautiful jewellery.
